For years my Mom tried to get rid of my Dad's cut-off shorts. He wore them, yes, religiously on Saturdays for cutting the lawn and trekking to the hardware store . . . long after they were easily zipped and buttoned. I never would have guessed that cut-offs could be so artfully rendered and fashionably trimmed. Bur one thing that will never change, no matter the tailoring, is the need for a pair that truly fit.
